Master of Science in Marketing Management
Meet our alumni of the week – Atif Sattar, Master of Science in Marketing Management and Master of Business Administration. Atif won GBSB Global Business School scholarship, was a member of the GBSB Global Business School Business Ethics delegation in Geneva and has recently received the GBSB Global Business School Barcelona's 'Best Thesis 2016' award. In addition, Atif won the 'Employee of the Year' award at EXIDE Pakistan Limited. Here is his story.
Education: Bachelor Degree & Master of Business Administration
I am from Lahore, Pakistan but have lived in many countries, including Germany and Singapore. I completed my bachelor degree studies in textile engineering and acquired an MBA degree at a university in Pakistan. I also completed several short courses in international economics and business in Hungary. I speak Urdu, Hindi, English and a basic level of both German and Spanish.
Work Experience & Motivation
I worked as a Sales Executive in Exide Pakistan Limited for three years before I moved to Europe. I was successful at my position and loved my job, but I wanted to have more international experience, to discover new opportunities and make my world bigger.
I had to sacrifice my stable job, leave my home country, say farewell to my family and friends and move to a place where I have never lived. In the end, it was totally worth it. It was very important that I had the courage to leave, to go outside of my comfort zone in order to grow both professionally and personally. I know it sounds scary, but I felt so much better once I did it, and you will too!

Barcelona is a place where I have always wanted to live because it’s such an international hub. In Barcelona, I had the chance to meet people from all over the world and thanks to the GBSB Global Business School, I now have friends from almost every continent. One of the most important things which I really like about the GBSB Global Business School is that it is truly a global school where all classes are taught in English.
Master Degree in Marketing as a Key to Success in Business
I believe a master’s degree in marketing management is a great achievement for any person interested in marketing, communications and/or social media management. It offers a deeper understanding of the business processes and trends in the context of a dynamic, globalized, business environment. Even though I already have a MBA degree, I feel that obtaining the Master of Science in Marketing Management degree at the GBSB Global Business School has significantly broadened my knowledge and increased my overall level of expertise, which has in turn made me much more competitive in the international business job market.
Inspire & Be Inspired
I would like to finish my story with my favorite quote from Bob Marley: “The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively”. I find this quote symbolizes honesty, integrity and positive influence.
That is why I am sharing my story. I would be very excited to see more people from my country and around the world take this bold decision and study abroad for at least one year, not only to enrich their lives but to step out into the world, a land of opportunity.
If you are dreaming of a master’s degree or a master’s of business administration degree but are afraid to leave your current job or your family, just think of all the new opportunities and experiences that you are missing. Knowledge and education are very powerful and can make your life so much better. I will never forget my study abroad experience in Spain and all my classmates from the GBSB Global Business School in Barcelona. My advice, do not be afraid! Inspire and be inspired!
