It is that time again; it’s April and that means GBSB Global welcomes its third intake of new students to school. On Monday, April 3, 2017 the Academics department arranged a formal introduction to the school, Spanish language testing, student policy overviews, and an explanation of Spanish procedures for registration.
The morning was scheduled back-to-back with info sessions, providing students with the groundwork to start their academic year not only here at GBSB Global, but in Spain in general.
Registering for classes made everything feel real. By mid-day students knew what their upcoming agenda would be for the April academic term. Every student had the opportunity to meet with an academic advisor to personalize their schedule according to their specific career interests under the umbrella of study they are pursuing.
A break out session was held in the communal garden under the warm spring sun after individual registration was finished. Students were served coffee, tea, juice, and light snacks while they had time to mix and mingle, getting to know one another. A diverse group of students creating connections that will be nurtured over the coming months.
Student council members, Ioannis Antonopoulos and Pedro Serrano, took the reins after the coffee break was finished and guided the new students to Barceloneta Beach to further work on building comradery. Florencia Reolon, the school’s professional photographer accompanied the group to capture the special moments that marked this new beginning.
Ioannis and Pedro are very involved in the school’s events and make a concerted effort to make sure everyone feels welcome and comfortable at GBSB Global. Through the course of the afternoon’s events students had the opportunity to be involved in team building activities that were both fun and helped students to continue to get familiarized with one another.
Our students come from across the globe. They are diverse, coming from various ethnic backgrounds, professional careers and life experiences. We foster a community of growth that not only promotes becoming socially connected, but it is an atmosphere of learning from one another in order to see the world with a global vision, an open mind and empathetic heart.
GBSB Global is excited to welcome this term’s new students to our vibrant and dynamic community of professionals that are tomorrow’s business leaders.
