A Year in Review: GBSB Global had an Amazing 2018!

We couldn’t have dreamed of a better year. GBSB Global was busy doing amazing things! Let’s take a look at the past 12 months and see everything that has happened at GBSB Global Business School in 2018.

Starting out in January, GBSB Global introduced a new program, Master in Digital Marketing and E-commerce (MSc). In the same month, we were thrilled to launch our new Online Campus, offering a variety on degrees that can be obtained remotely, namely our BBA programs.

Jumping into February, we kept up the same fervor and rolled out a new program, our Master in Financial Management, Digital Banking and Internet Finance (MSc). This program is designed to meet the current trends in market demand.

March started off by GBSB Global becoming a member of AACSB Business Education Alliance, a global membership association for the business education industry. Furthering our commitment to providing the best education possible to our students, GBSB Global began a partnership with Think-Cell, a software company located in Berlin, Germany. This tech-based alliance provides students with advanced tools within the Microsoft Suite, namely PowerPoint and Excel. Collaboration being the name of the game, we joined arms with HOSCO, a job/internship portal for students and alumni of our Master in Tourism and Hospitality Management program.

GBSB Global opened its highly anticipated campus in Madrid and launched its daytime Master programs (MSc & MBA) in April along with teaming up with Power-user SaS Alliance Surges Student Productivity.

May was a big month! Propelling GBSB Global’s MSc in Operations & Supply Chain Management to greater heights, we partnered with Zaragoza Logistics Center – MIT Global Scale Network helping us deliver excellence in education, delivering professionals that are highly marketable and competent in the field. Also, in the same month, GBSB Global signed a partnership agreement with Beroomers, a global mid-term housing marketplace for students and young professionals. The inauguration of the GBSB Global housing platform assists students in finding accommodation and booking their new home before their arrival to Barcelona or Madrid. The school also opened enrolment to a new, highly-sought-after program, its BBA in Sports Management, at the Barcelona Campus.

May continued to be a flurry of activity as the European Council of Business Education (ECBE) accredited 4 programs offered at GBSB Global: MBA, MSc in Entrepreneurship, MA in Fashion and Luxury Business Management and MA in Tourism and Hospitality Management. The ACCA announced its collaboration with GBSB Global Business School in Madrid, opening CBE Center in Madrid. Not to mention, GBSB Global initiated the accreditation process with ACBSP, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, formerly known as the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs, a U.S- based organization providing accreditation services to business programs focused on quality teaching and learning.

Finally, to round out the stellar month of May, GBSB Global became an ATHE recognized satellite center. Awards for Training and Higher Education (ATHE) is an OFQUAL regulated endowment organization in the UK (recognized by the Ministry of Education in the UK) specializing in Management qualifications with progression routes to a wide range of University degrees. GBSB Global’s first and second year BBA programs are now officially recognized in the UK. After having completed courses at GBSB Global, students will have the opportunity to study an additional “top up” year at a wide range of universities in the United Kingdom.

In June, GBSB Global took a look at our internal systems, replacing the old system of internships and job-sharing platform with a brand-new Career Portal which allows both current students and alumni to find internships and jobs not only in Spain but across the globe. Also, to foster a better relationship with students and bolster their job search, GBSB Global expanded its Career Services which was previously under the umbrella of the Academics and Student Affairs Department, now it is known as its own entity, the Career Department. Also, in June, GBSB Global was excited to give an entrepreneurship training for a group of Lithuanian professors and, in doing so, launched its first B2E program.

In the height of the summer, July, GBSB Global became accredited and was recognized as the first and the only official ACCA’s Silver Learning Partner in Spain, a tremendous acknowledgment we are delighted to have earned. The school went onto launch and host its first edition of its Digital Summer School, a shortened, condensed term of study for those students that either want to deepen or advance their studies during the summer break.

Rounding out the month of July, GBSB Global became a member of Barcelona Tech City, a joint mission of stimulating entrepreneurship through education, attracting investment and connecting individuals in the IT industry that promote the shared interest of promoting a culture of strong entrepreneurship in Barcelona.

August ushered in recognition as a European MBA Tier One Ranking institution in CEO Magazine, a business magazine with intriguing business and lifestyle articles that motivate readers to change, innovate and disrupt the market. Shifting gears and focusing on the upcoming term.

Continuing its preparations, GBSB Global expanded the Academics Team with the addition of a new Head of Academics, Dr. Yessen Oskenbay. We became a partner with UNWTO, the United Nations World Trade Organization, the agency charged with the promotion of responsible, sustainable and regularly accessible tourism internationally.

Before the fall term got underway, GBSB Global signed an agreement with IIHEM, the leading private University in Morocco. This agreement was made in order to encourage GBSB Global and IIHEM students’ participation in an exchange program offered at both universities. IIHEM students will have special conditions impelling them to continue their studies at GBSB Global. Particularly, BBA students at IIHEM can join GBSB Global for a third top-up year and complete their BBA studies at GBSB Global. This is a wonderful opportunity for the exchange of not only knowledge but culture further promoting one of GBSB Global’s most distinguishing attributes, its diversity.

As we look forward to 2019, we reflect on the huge successes brought about in 2018. These milestones are driving the success of not only the institution but the students and graduates, providing them with the resources, tools, network and accolades they need to take their careers to unimaginable heights. It is with this firm foundation that we transition into the year ahead. With the promise of bright tomorrow’s and new opportunities to continue to grow we welcome in the new year!
