Getting a taste of the real world
Engaging in professional visits and practical learning is also a strong denominator that sets GBSB Global Business School and its graduates apart from their competitors in the field. Recently, GBSB Global MA in Tourism and Hospitality Management students were invited to visit Andante Hotel in Barcelona’s city center which is recognized as a Biosphere Hotel. This certification means they’re committed to sustainable practices focused on economic, socio-cultural and environmental balance. Students were able to engage the hotel’s staff with questions pertaining to this intriguing designation in addition to general, daily hotel operations queries.
Melia Barcelona Sky, a modern 4-star hotel offering stylish accommodation not but minutes from Barcelona’s thriving heart was also among recent hotels toured by our MA in Tourism and Hospitality Management students. This visit played a part of a learning process titled "the internal kitchen" where students could inquire with the hotel’s staff about their own experiences working in the service industry.
One of GBSB Global’s capstone visits toured tourism and hospitality students through the Hotel Majestic, an iconic 5-star hotel, ideally located on Passeig de Gracia since 1918. Its timeless elegance and commitment to exceptional service and quality made an impact on students and gave them an opportunity to compare their experiences at other properties. Offering a variety of establishments is important, providing students with the opportunity to see where they may picture themselves fitting in.
As a final project our students organize and execute a tourism conference on campus. Relying on their studies and experiences interacting with current hospitality professionals, students are expected to take the knowledge they acquired and put it into practice. This is no easy task. Our faculty’s curriculum is designed to equip students with the tools and skill to successfully carry out this multifaceted function.
