GBSB Global Business School welcomes Malta’s landmark partnership with OpenAI. This national initiative is designed to expand AI literacy and make advanced digital tools more accessible to citizens.

Malta is the first country to partner with OpenAI to provide its citizens with access to ChatGPT Plus through a national AI literacy initiative. The program combines practical AI education with access to one of today’s most widely used generative AI platforms, positioning Malta at the forefront of responsible digital adoption.

Participants will take an AI literacy course developed by the University of Malta. The course will help participants understand what artificial intelligence is, what it can and cannot do, and how to use it responsibly in daily life, study, and work. After completing the course, eligible participants will be able to access ChatGPT Plus for one year at no cost. The first phase of the program is expected to launch in May, with the Malta Digital Innovation Authority managing distribution to eligible participants.

For GBSB Global Business School, which has a campus in Birkirkara, Malta, this announcement represents more than a technological milestone. It confirms Malta’s growing role as a European hub for digital education, innovation, and future-oriented skills.

GBSB Global’s Malta campus is part of the school’s international network, alongside Barcelona, Madrid, and the Online Campus. It offers English-taught undergraduate and graduate programs in a highly multicultural environment.

This initiative is particularly relevant for students preparing for careers in business, management, digital innovation, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, and emerging technologies. As AI becomes increasingly embedded in professional decision-making, students who learn to use these tools critically and ethically will be better positioned to analyze information, develop ideas, increase productivity, and adapt to the transformation of the global workplace.

Maltese citizens studying at GBSB Global Malta may have direct access to advanced AI tools through the national initiative, pending eligibility. International students also benefit from studying in a country that is actively investing in AI literacy at the national level. This creates a dynamic academic and professional environment where digital transformation is part of the country’s long-term development agenda, not just a theoretical concept.

This context closely aligns with GBSB Global’s educational model, which emphasizes innovation, international business, digital skills, entrepreneurship, and employability. The school’s master’s programs in Malta are officially recognized under the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority framework, and GBSB Global is recognized for its digital learning environment and international profile. As governments, companies, and institutions transition from initial AI adoption to more structured strategies, Malta’s collaboration with OpenAI sends a clear message. AI literacy is becoming a core civic, academic, and professional competence. For GBSB Global students in Malta, this means studying in an environment where the future of business education is being shaped in real time. We see this development at GBSB Global Business School as an important opportunity for students to engage with AI as responsible future leaders who can apply technology with strategic vision, ethical awareness, and a global perspective.
