WHAT YOU’LL DISCOVER

John Callachan runs DDC Group across 13+ countries, including a fast-growing footprint in the Balkans. This session puts you inside the three tensions every international operator deals with: technology vs. people, culture vs. efficiency, speed vs. quality.

You won’t just listen. Mixed UG and MSc teams act as new-market-entry leads with a constrained budget, a tech stack, a talent plan, and regulatory friction to manage. MSc students lead the teams in breakout rooms. You build a recommendation and pitch it to John directly.

John then contrasts your pitches with what DDC actually did in comparable situations and walks through the hybrid leadership model his teams use to keep culture and service quality intact across decentralized, multilingual operations.

AGENDA

Provocation: The Three Tensions of Global Scale (15 minutes)
John frames the session around the three trade-offs every international operator manages: technology vs. people, culture vs. efficiency, speed vs. quality.

Scenario Briefing & Breakout Room Setup (10 minutes)
Mixed UG/MSc teams are sent into Teams breakout rooms, with MSc students positioned as team leads. Each team receives a market-entry brief: budget, tech stack, talent plan, and regulatory constraints.

Breakout Work (25 minutes)
Teams build their recommendation in their breakout rooms: where to enter, how to staff, what to automate, what to localize.

Team Pitches (20 minutes)
Each team returns to the main room and pitches to John. He responds in real time.

The DDC Counter-Move (10 minutes)
John walks through what DDC actually did in comparable situations and contrasts it with the student pitches.

Q&A on Hybrid Leadership Across Decentralized Teams (10 minutes)
Open floor — culture, performance, and how leadership scales when your teams speak five languages and sit in seven time zones.
