Under the floodlights of Malta\u2019s Premier League stadiums, Carlo Zammit Lonardelli<\/strong> commands the pitch with the precision and focus of a seasoned central midfielder. Off the field, however, another ambition has been quietly unfolding: a passion for business, innovation, and shaping the future of sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carlo recently graduated from GBSB Global Business School Malta<\/a><\/strong>, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration and Digital Innovation<\/strong>, with a focus on Sport and E-sports Management<\/a><\/strong>. While others might have struggled to balance elite athletics with higher education, Carlo saw an opportunity and seized it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to understand how the industry works behind the scenes,\u201d Carlo says. \u201cThis degree gave me practical skills\u2014like project management and digital marketing\u2014that I could immediately connect to real-life situations.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

With daily training sessions, national team duties, and club-level matches, time was always in short supply. However, the program’s flexible design<\/strong>, including online learning and highly responsive lecturers, allowed Carlo to manage both worlds without compromise.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

He wasn\u2019t just studying business. He was living it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

Some days Some days, I\u2019d go straight from morning training to class or from a match to a group project,\u201d he recalls. \u201cBut I never felt left behind. The program’s structure worked for me, not against me.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

While still finishing his final semester, Carlo began receiving job offers from sports and e-sports organizations<\/strong> both in Malta and abroad. Though he turned them down\u2014for now\u2014to focus on his football career, the momentum is undeniable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s empowering to know that when I decide to make that shift, I have the skills and credibility to move forward with confidence.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

For Carlo, business education wasn\u2019t a backup plan. It was a strategic move<\/strong> that opens the door to future roles in sports management, digital strategy, and event planning. It\u2019s about longevity, leadership, and staying ahead of the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

GBSB Global gave me more than a degree\u2014it gave me perspective \u2013he reflects. Now I see myself not just as a player, but as a potential leader in the sports industry.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Carlo Zammit Lonardelli, a champion and a GBSB Global alumnus, is a living example of the modern athlete: globally minded, digitally savvy, and ready for what\u2019s next. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
