GBSB Global Students Organize the 3rd Annual BIT of Fashion Conference

A great experience for Master in Fashion and Luxury Business Management students to Learn by Doing, a methodology that introduces four key points: real-life simulation, the management of non-success and failure, the result condition, and the diverse roles the teachers play in this learning environment.

It is that time of year again in mid-spring for one of the biggest events GBSB Global hosts, the BIT of Fashion Conference. BIT is the acronym for business, innovation, and technology. The conference was the brain child of GBSB Alumni, Rotem Zarfati, an MA in Fashion and Luxury Business Management graduate from Israel.

The primary purpose of the inaugural and subsequent conferences that have since followed its origination three years ago was not only to create a platform where industry professionals, fashion and luxury professors and students could convene, but individuals from all sectors of society were, and are still today, welcome to join, to discuss the themes of the conference and bring varying viewpoints about the trends in business, innovation, and technology to the forefront.

"Creativity comes from a conflict of ideas."
Donatella Versace

GBSB Global fosters a platform that creates a neutral space for

  • Idea sharing
  • Fostering awareness
  • Promoting public attention to the current state of social and environmental issues that the fashion and luxury business encounter in today’s globalized market
  • Expanding network connections across industries and cultures

For students who organize the event, the conference provides the ideal occasion for students to become event managers, to take the reins, engaging actively in their learning by participating in the entire organization and execution of the event from the preliminary groundwork, identifying the theme of the conference and potential presenters to hiring catering, conducting the marketing and promotion of the event. The capstone is the actual two-day conference where students are not only the face of the BIT of Fashion, but act as professional representatives of the school.

Tanja Sredojevic, a GBSB Global Master in Fashion and Luxury Business Management Alumni from Slovenia was one of the three organizers from the second annual conference. Her greatest takeaway from the event was learning how to organize the coordination of such a high-profile event that has gotten public attention. The primary objective Tanja had for the second conference was to build a bridge between students and professionals in the fashion and luxury industry and diminish the gap between the two.

"The innovation point is the pivotal moment when talented people seek the opportunity to act on their ideas and dreams."
W. Arthur Porter
